Kailāsa is Śiva's own celebrated mountain abode in Śaiva tradition — usually pictured with Pārvatī, Gaṇeśa, Kārttikeya, Nandi, gaṇas, the Gaṅgā, snow peaks, and jewel-like terrain, a world holding fierce power and domestic tenderness together without resolving either into the other.
