The chipped-rice festival
Dates follow the Māyāpur (India) reckoning, the base of most published Vaiṣṇava calendars. The tradition sets each day by the tithi present at local sunrise, so your own date may fall a day earlier or later — see the calendar for your city.
The festival recalls a day at Paṇihāṭi, on the Ganges near Kolkata, when Nityānanda Prabhu playfully "punished" the young Raghunātha dāsa — then avoiding his family to reach Caitanya — by having him feed chipped rice and yoghurt to the whole assembly of devotees. communities keep the day with the same simple offering distributed by the river.
