Disappearance of Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura

Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura (1838–1914) was a district magistrate in Bengal and Odisha who wrote around a hundred works — in Bengali, Sanskrit and English — arguing the position as reasoned theology rather than sentiment, and who identified the birthplace of Caitanya at Māyāpur. His Jaiva- and Kṛṣṇa-saṁhitā are still central. The modern form of this tradition largely begins with him.
