Dates follow the Māyāpur (India) reckoning, the base of most published Vaiṣṇava calendars. The tradition sets each day by the tithi present at local sunrise, so your own date may fall a day earlier or later — see the calendar for your city.

Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī (1874–1937), son of Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura, founded the Maṭha, established printing and preaching on a large scale, and instructed the disciple who would later carry the tradition abroad. He is remembered for insisting the message be given plainly and widely rather than kept as a regional inheritance.
