Appearance of Balarāma
Dates follow the Māyāpur (India) reckoning, the base of most published Vaiṣṇava calendars. The tradition sets each day by the tithi present at local sunrise, so your own date may fall a day earlier or later — see the calendar for your city.
Balarāma is Kṛṣṇa's older brother in and, in the chart's theology, his first expansion — the single source from which the whole tree of divine manifestations (the vyūhas, the puruṣa-, everything downward) unfolds. His appearance falls one week before Kṛṣṇa's. The tradition treats the two as one principle in two forms: the enjoyer and the one who serves and shelters the enjoyment.
