Advaita Ācārya was a senior figure in 's devotional community a generation before Caitanya. The tradition remembers that it was his loud calling — offering Ganges water and tulasī, begging the Lord to come and reclaim a forgetful age — that drew Caitanya to appear. He is counted among the Pañca-tattva, the five aspects of the one descent the tradition locates at Navadvīpa.
